Bike South West rides are free to all, although riders 16 years and under must be accompanied by an adult rider.
All you need to provide is a well maintained bike, a spare tube, tyre levers and a pump, sunscreen, plus money for any food or drink you wish to purchase and of course a willing body.
You don’t have to wear fancy lycra shorts and tops although regular riders find them more comfortable and because the tops are usually brightly coloured they are more visible on the road.
Most rides are arranged so there is access to water and toilets along the route.
On each official BUG ride, participants will be asked to complete a BUG sign-on sheet whereby you understand the risk warning below –
RISK WARNING: As a participant in this recreational activity, you may be exposing yourself to a risk of harm. Bike South West Incorporated, the ride organisers and leaders wish to warn you that there are risks and hazards inherent in cycling activities. You are responsible to take care to prevent putting yourself, your fellow participants and/or others into danger. By signing this form, you accept the warning as to risk, you agree to ride in a safe and responsible manner and to obey all Australian Road Rules.
